Embraer Executive Jets has aimed high with its latest marketing campaign by producing a Hollywood-style short film, starring international superstar Jackie Chan.

The video, which was uploaded onto YouTube yesterday, is a lavish showcase of the Legacy 500 private jet, which is currently being promoted at the 13th European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE).

This is the first time that the midsize jet has made a public appearance outside of Brazil and the film has been designed to illustrate “how the company is bringing tomorrow’s aircraft to the market today”, according to a press release. The Legacy 500 is scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2014.

“Embraer Executive Jets has already created a lot of comments about the Legacy 500 and now people can take a look at this remarkable aircraft for themselves,” said Ernest Edwards, President, Embraer Executive Jets.

“The aircraft is no longer a concept and its debut is a very significant milestone for the company. The Legacy 500 is the perfect illustration of what makes us different. Our mission is to bring amenities normally found in larger, more expensive jets to all levels of business aviation and, in doing so, have brought changes to the entire industry.”

I really don't want to betray Global Express but this one certainly...well, it went into my bucket list now.

  3. Interesting how they revealed the product, though the story plot kinda lacks something. Overall, still good specially the cg.

  4. Honestly, I had to force myself to watch to the end. 6+ minutes is far too long for the message received.

  5. OTT production springs to mind.

  6. Embraer - Jackie Chan (Andy Lau the next?)
    Bombardier - John Travolta
Who's the next for another manufacturer?

  7. Bad commercial for a major introduction. If you use Jackie Chan in “anything” you'd better have him do something other than twirl coins - he’s an "action" star and people expect it!

For the money they spent on Chan, who looks old in the video, they should have gone Hollywood – George Clooney perhaps? Plus the film ran far too long until the reveal.

The company spent a pile of money for a “short film” to introduce a new major product and instead got a home movie with an older, coin twirling, ex-Kung Fu star. Nice Jet though.

Very much a "Hollywood" production, a lot of visual effects, but with no real demonstration of the airplane.

  11. It started out as a great UFO story but sadly ended as just another airplane.

I liked it. I can't afford one, but someone who can is surely going to appreciate the effort they've gone to. I imagine the 'spin' will be the production of the aircraft is as professional as the production values used in the add.

  13. Oh dear, it took far too long getting to the point!

  14. I'm not a big Jackie Chan fan. But he was paid well I'm sure to play the part he played in this.

The hype is over "another" jet, entering the corporate sector of aviation. A jet that is up front, "obviously" influenced by companies such as Airbus, with it's "side stick" "fly-by-wire" technology. As to the aircraft's impact on the market, time will tell, and it's true value will be measured by sales.

I am proudly employed at the Embraer EETC in product development engineering, I believe this company has a bright future.

  16. I LOVE the paint job on that jet.

  17. I thought this was a production for the next G.I. Joe. Other than that, the ad has 'meh' written all over it. Disappointing for such a beautiful airplane.

  18. Definitely "Hollywood" and of course very well done but too long in building up the story to the main event. Btw, who is the intended target audience? Those that can afford this aircraft will not be swayed by the video as they have plenty of resources to obtain data and specs and those that can't afford it, well....it was a nice video.

  19. Nice video BUT the subject was not really viewed until 1/2 way through and then a couple of "inside" shots... I'm not impressed by the advertisement but it looks like a nice aircraft from the outside... paint schemes will do that for you!!!

  20. The advert is to long, but it seems to be a nice plane.

  21. ....and Jackie Chan swaps now his 650 for the 500 ....?

  22. Would liked to have seen more of the aircraft. Maintenance, turn a round, ease of refueling that sort of thing. I guess when you have the money to buy one that's something you wont be doing. Liked it...

  23. I think it was a stupid video with no plot. It also focused on some mysterious glow. I kept waiting for the joke on 787 batteries. Maybe have the airplane deliver Chan to locations so fast that he has an alibi for whatever kung fu catastrophe he created. The Legacy 500 could show Chan resting in its comfort or flying it like any cool dude would do.

  24. It's gonna be a really nice plane but the video is not my cup of tea. About 06:00 minutes to long to be really effective.

  25. The aircraft looks good from the teaser you get. As others have said plot is poor for such a big production and as much as I like mr chan, he was a bit pointless in this. Cant afford one unless I win the lottery big, but would consider looking into it more on the basis of the vid. Definitely should have been less faff and a bit more of seeing the aircraft in its glory.

  26. It is a nice video but too long. Not sure the clients will watch it all.
Why they say "clean sheet design"? Ok that this is a flight-by-wire aircraft (Embraer's first) but the airframe, as far as I know, is based on the ERJ 135/145. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  27. Many of you have given your valid comments. I for one not going to comment on negative side. The total content and the effort put into capture details is admirable.

    We like the video.

  29. Nice sound track! A nice looking Jet! But too costly, I am sure, as an Ad. Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan would have been a better choice to endorse a business jet than Jackie Chan!

  30. A new mixture between science and entertainment! The puzzling is its manuovers as its roll banking belongs to military class rather than civil one.
