Shocking Video: Fake nuns caught with cocaine at Colombia airport

Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport isn’t the busiest airport in Colombia. In fact, it’s not even in the top five. However, that doesn’t mean that aviation hub is sleepy. On the contrary, it witnessed one hell of a drug bust the other day!

According to our trusted friends at CNN, three women were arrested at the airport for possession of cocaine. Adding a little spice to this story, the women were pretending to be nuns and hid the cocaine inside their habits!

The women – who were aged 20, 32 and 37 – were arriving from Bogota at the time, each carrying around two kilos of cocaine underneath their clothes.

Video footage of the suspected drug peddlers has even been doing the rounds on YouTube, with the women being led into police cars (no longer in their habits), acting nervous and crying. I’ve included it below.

The drugs the women were smuggling would be distributed in more than 60 thousand doses, police said. The trio face charges of trafficking, manufacturing and the bearing of narcotics.

  1. May be they didn't read the sign: "No one is exempt from security search"... :D

Or maybe, they thought the sign was fake, too. :-)

OMG, I have seen many reportages on TV about drug smugglers imprisoned in Colombian jails... Just wishing these 3 women "good luck". It's like living but seeing their death slowly.

  2. This isn't the first time drug smugglers have disguised themselves in this fashion, and it certainly won't be the last. As a 30 year plus Customs veteran, I've long gone past the surprise element of any smuggling attempt. There have certainly been many more ingenious methods than this!

  3. Most unusual as in Colombia the drugs cartels, smugglers etc fear no one so they rarely hide it. Having worked in Colombia, and with their military, the drug lords and the FARC have a usually charmed life and fear no one. What does surprise me is using a civil airport to "move the white stuff" as usual route in/out is via "hidden" airstrips and back and forth to Miami.

  8. The Columbian authorities told the women..."we'll have none of this"!

That is a problem of society. Lot of people take a profile of this business, we know who they are...
